Are you a positive role model? Would you like to learn valuable leadership, recreational and life skills? CITs spend two weeks at Camp learning activity and outdoor living skills, teaching methods and how to lead and mentor children. CITs apply for the program and must have at least two references. Please contact the assistant director at 618-695-2489 ext. 102 for more information or download the application when it becomes available. Applications will be reviewed in mid-March.

Ages: 15 years only
Cost: $575/$525/$475
Dates: CIT 1 (Coed) June 7-20, CIT 2 (Coed) June 14-27, CIT 3 (Girls) July 12-25, CIT 4 (Coed) July 26-Aug 8

GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION

The first week of the CIT program consists of instruction in a chosen "major" (listed in the application) and an exam on that subject. If the CIT qualifies, he/she is invited to stay for a second week free of charge. During the second week*, the CIT studies camper supervision and relations by working with a Unit Leader and unit staff for the entire week. Because CITs are campers, they are never put in a supervisory role and never left in charge of campers.

CIT SELECTION

Please complete a CIT application and return it to camp. We will be placing applicants beginning mid-March. Since you have plenty of time to complete this application, prepare it well. Your selection as a CIT will depend heavily upon the quality of your application and the strength of your references. It is the responsibility of the CIT to ensure references are sent to Camp Ondessonk. Camp Ondessonk is not responsible for letting CIT's know that they are missing reference forms. CIT applications received after mid-March will be reviewed on a space available basis only.

WEEKEND DUTIES

On the Saturday between weeks 1 and 2 of the program, CIT’s will participate in special programming. Therefore, it is not appropriate to leave camp during this time. Late arrivals and early departures will not be allowed. The CIT program is a two week program. Please set aside two full weeks in order to participate.

THINGS TO REMEMBER FOR YOUR MAJOR

If you choose Horsemanship as your major, you will be in the barn during the day for both weeks. Also for horsemanship you will need extra jeans and sturdy boots with a heel. You will need extra shoes for Nature, and an extra swimsuit for Aquatics.

WHAT TO BRING

Pack enough for for two weeks, as there are no laundry facilities available at camp. You will need a battery-operated or wind-up alarm clock and pencils/pens and paper for notetaking. More information will be provided upon admission to the program.
